HealthHub Clinics by Al-Futtaim had recently been approved as an international training center for conducting courses of the American Heart Association (AHA), one of the prestigious international training organizations, specialised in the field of heart and cardiovascular care.
AHA’s accreditation as a certified International Training Centre (ITC) adds to a long list of renowned international organizations which recognize the professional standards of care provided by Al-Futtaim Health. HealthHub Clinics by Al-Futtaim is the UAE’s first chain of primary care clinics to be internationally accredited, while the ITC and newly formed clinical education department, will further elevate the care and services provided to patients.
AHA is the world leader in first aid, CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) training and education, and provides training programs and public health education to individuals across the world. It continues to explore ways that empower individuals with the necessary skills to deliver life-saving support during emergencies.
Sharing CPR learnings among corporate communities
In line with the health authorities mission in the UAE to save people’s lives through its ‘Heart Safe City’ initiative, Al-Futtaim Health has partnered with leading companies in the UAE on a much needed initiative to bring the city’s survival rate of cardiac arrests outside of hospitals from under 5% to 65%, by educating members of the public on the correct ways to conduct effective bystander Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Most cardiac arrests commonly occur at the workplace, outdoors or at home and global statistics reveal that from 90% of cardiac arrests occurring outside the hospital, only 10% survive. More than half of this could be attributed to lack of knowledge on the subject.
Al-Futtaim Health’s Clinical Education team, led by Ms. Sindhu Mathew and her team, have conducted workshops for corporate clients to meet the growing demand for this much-needed initiative. The core objective is to teach employees in corporate companies, all the correct processes of CPR to efficiently manage emergencies during critical situations at any public space or more commonly, at the workplace or home.
Every workshop is designed to cover the proven and effective approaches to adult, child and infant CPR. These highly interactive sessions with open discussions and practice scenarios use real life simulations involving CPR demos and the need for their timely response.
The response has been overwhelming. On 10th May 2022, Al-Futtaim Health conducted a successful CPR workshop session for all employees of Tech Mahindra, which was based on a ‘hybrid’ workshop session with 35 employees physically attending onsite while 48 staff members attended virtually.
